Strong Kids.

Investing in our youth Means expanding Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs, providing support for students experiencing homelessness, and increasing access to affordable after-school activities.

  • We need to expand Career and Technical Education (CTE) Programs, with a strong focus on work-site learning. As highlighted by the Shelton School District, these programs provide students with practical skills and real-world experience, preparing them for future careers right here in Shelton.

  • We must provide support for youth facing housing instability. Expanding programs like the Mason County HOST program or Community Youth Services which provides stable housing and support for students experiencing homelessness, support for youth in foster care, job placement and education is crucial. This includes offering financial assistance, essential life-skills training, and guidance for transitioning to independent adulthood.

  • We need to invest in after-school and extracurricular programs and support existing organizations such as the Shelton Family YMCA and Shelton Youth Connection. Increasing access to affordable and engaging activities, sports, and arts provides positive outlets for our youth, fostering their development and keeping them on a path to success.
